Xin Qiji · Song dynasty

Where can I look out upon the sacred land? All the splendor before my eyes—Beigu Tower. A thousand years of rising and falling, how many things? Endless. The long Yangtze rolls on and never ceases.

In youth he had ten thousand helmeted men; he sat firm upon the southeast and fought without rest. Who was a match for him among the heroes of the world? Cao Cao and Liu Bei. A son should be like Sun Zhongmou.

Reading notes

Sun Zhongmou is Sun Quan; 曹刘 refers to Cao Cao and Liu Bei. 兜鍪 means a helmet and stands for the armed troops.
