李白乘舟将欲行
Li Bai is aboard a boat, about to leave,
忽闻岸上踏歌声
When singing with rhythmic steps rises from the shore.
桃花潭水深千尺
Though Peach Blossom Pool were a thousand feet deep,
不及汪伦送我情
It could not match Wang Lun’s farewell affection.
Meaning
As Li Bai is about to leave by boat, singing and rhythmic steps reach him from shore. The deep pool cannot match his friend's affection. The great depth is expressive rather than a survey.
