A note for grown-ups

The rooster’s red comb grows naturally, without cutting or shaping. Covered in white feathers, it walks toward us. It does not crow casually; when it does, homes open their doors and the day begins.

02 / READ TOGETHER

Read together, one turn at a time

Say the first syllable of a line, then let your child continue.

Where are the hidden lines? Let’s find them.

Start with two syllables as a clue, then try just one. Swap roles when you are ready.

Words for grown-ups

Play the Mandarin recording, then use these prompts together.

Where is the red comb? Point to it.
When the rooster crows, let’s stretch.
I’ll say “tóu”; you continue.
