Pure and Peaceful Music: Every Year Amid the Snow

Li Qingzhao · Song dynasty

Year after year amid the snow I would wear a spray of plum and grow drunk. I have crumpled the plum blossoms to pieces with no joy in it, and won only clear tears soaking all my robe.

This year I am at the corner of the sea, the edge of the sky; thin and sighing, my two temples turn gray. Mark the strength of the wind at evening—surely it will be hard to look upon the plum blossoms.
