Joy at Meeting: The Forest Blossoms Have Shed Their Spring Red

Li Yu · Five Dynasties

The forest flowers have shed their spring red — all in too great haste. Helpless before the cold rain of morning and the wind of evening.

Tears bright as rouge: we linger yet in drunkenness — when shall we meet again? So it is: the long regret of human life is like the water forever flowing east.

Reading notes

相留 also appears as 留人; this page retains 相留. 重 is read chóng in the question about meeting again.
