English translation

From the jade tower, high as mid-heaven, sheng and song arise, the wind bears the palace ladies' mingled talk and laughter.

In the moonlit hall the shadows part, the night clock is heard, the crystal blind rolls up, near the autumn river of stars.

Meaning

In the jade tower that rises into the clouds, strains of reed and pipe music sound; drifting on the wind come the laughter and talk of palace ladies, keeping it company. The moon's shadow shifts, and one hears only the monotonous drip of the night water clock; rolling up the crystal blind, I seem to be near the Milky Way.
