迢迢牵牛星
迢迢牵牛星，
皎皎河汉女。
Far, far away the Herd Boy star; bright, bright the Weaving Maid by the River of Heaven.
纤纤擢素手，
札札弄机杼。
Delicate, delicate she lifts her white hands; click, click she works at her loom.
终日不成章，
泣涕零如雨。
All day she weaves no finished pattern; her tears fall like rain.
河汉清且浅，
相去复几许。
The River of Heaven is clear and shallow; and how far apart can the two of them be?
盈盈一水间，
脉脉不得语。
Between them but one stretch of clear water—yet they gaze and cannot speak.
