Five Spring Poems: No. 2

Qin Guan · Song dynasty

A night of soft thunder drops ten thousand threads of rain; light after clearing floats on the tiles, green and uneven.

The peony, full of feeling, holds spring's tears; the rose, without strength, lies along the dawn branch.

Reading notes

This page retains the title “Spring Days, No. 2” and the wording 碧参差. In the Huaihai Collection consulted, this poem comes second and reads 碧差差. Other selections use the standalone title “Spring Day” or a different numbering. 霁光 means sunshine after rain.
