Washing Creek Sand: Our Years Are Brief

Yan Shu · Song dynasty

Brief is our allotted time, and finite is this life; even an ordinary parting can break the heart. Do not turn down frequent gatherings with wine and song.

Before my eyes, hills and rivers: in vain I long for the far away. Fallen flowers, wind and rain: the more I grieve for spring. Better to cherish the one who is before me.
