Rain on the Stream, No. 2

Cui Daorong · Tang dynasty

I watch dark clouds carrying fierce rain;

It pours on the mountain while my own spot stays clear.

Suddenly cloud and rain are above my head,

But evening sunlight now brightens the mountain ahead.

What the poem means

A dark cloud rains on the mountain while the poet's own spot remains clear. Suddenly rain arrives overhead and the mountain glows in evening light. The weather changes places quickly.

Meet the poet

Cui Daorong was a Tang poet. A passing mountain shower makes two places exchange rain and light.
