Fisherman's Pride: Recording a Dream

Li Qingzhao · Song dynasty

Heaven joins the cloud-billows and meets the dawn mist; the River of Stars seems to turn as a thousand sails dance. It seems my dreaming soul returns to the abode of the Lord on High. I hear the voice of Heaven, earnestly asking me where I am bound.

I answer: the road is long, and I sigh that the sun is setting; I have learned to make poems, yet in vain possess astonishing lines. The great peng bird is rising on a wind of ninety thousand li. Wind, do not cease—blow my frail boat away to the Three Isles!
